Oh god. Is this guy going to be the new botted thing? I haven't seen Jung Kook (or whatever his name is) in the top five in a while.

I have no interest in listening to his music simply by association. Do educate my on his style so I can know for the future :)

no kpop is a diff genre, that is american music by korean artists, BTS write all of their own music. Original. That is why they do so well

K-pop music isn't some western music karaoke. You people needs to stop coping so hard. I get it, you're a fan, but jfc they're not the second coming.

for anyone who's new here and hates kpop, i know it's easy to dismiss his work as trash and botted even if uve never given it a listen. i know, i was a kpop haters once. but if yall just give it a try and just listen to his latest album "right place wrong person" im saying, this has tyler the creator, thundercat, frank ocean, steve lacy influences all over but also gives his own flavor. and not to mention, he writes and produces his own music (as his co-bts members do too) and worked with indie bands sunset rollercoaster and balming tiger in this album. bts is an anomaly in kpop because they have full creative control and make experimental music outside of the usual soulless, manufactured kpop sound. just because they have amassed a huge following and dedicated fandom over the years doesn't mean their art isn't worth all the accolades and chart placing. you can read NME's 5 star review of the album here: https://www.nme.com/reviews/album/bts-rm-right-place-wrong-person-review-3759233

My mind and horizons are open. Even with that, there's also a few things to be skeptical about. Why is it so hard for you guys to use Occam's Razor and speculate the simplest explanation? As much as I would like to believe the massive amount of plays are organic (which was my first thought, mind you), I feel like there's also too many holes and things that scream the opposite. If you're listening to them naturally, that's awesome and I'm glad you enjoy these artists, but this doesn't directly concern you if you're a do-gooder :)

Well here's a (hopefully lol) simple explanation for you. They're a global boy band with a wide, diverse and really, I SAY REALLY DEDICATED fanbase from different age groups, status, race etc. And even though they've been experimental with their recent solo releases, they are still pop stars and just like Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande etc, their fandoms make mass streaming campaigns within their little online communities. Basically they have these streaming playlists on Spotify that are on loop 24/7. These playlists include even earlier releases which explains why those are still charting. But it's not like BTS fans are the only ones who do that. Well, that is just stan culture for you, it is what it is. BTS are literally just like One Direction but from South Korea and if Harry or Zayn top the charts I bet no one would probably question it this much. But yeah I get it, the fans of BTS can be a little bit more excessive and passionate with the streams and that's probably because no matter -

--how much BTS put in their craft, they are still underdogs and could never avoid discrimination and xenophobia and will always be discredited. But basically my point is, they, BTS themselves are no fraud like some in this comment thread have implied. Yes, these huge amounts of streams for pop stars don't come from casual listeners but rather a reflection of how dedicated their fandom are. But again BTS aren't the ones causing these massive streams themselves. They're actually all currently enlisted for their required military service and just released these pre-recorded music in schedule while they're away. Now I'm not gonna try to change your mind whether you think fandom mass streaming 24/7 is inorganic or not but I just tried to paint a picture of how the numbers could have been possible.

I started a thread and responded to comments. I think this is the only shout I've interacted with that wasn't from my thread. If that makes me obsessed, so be it.

if yall think fans who stream for their fave artists 24/7 have too much time on their hands-- how are you, probably a grown man who thinks he has the best and most obscure music taste, literally invested with fighting 13 year old fangirls on a musician's profile u dont even care about, not actually worse than that 😂

As much as I love BTS, it's obvious people bot their songs on last fm. Also, a lot of tickets are bought by scalpers, that's just how it is for many artists sadly.

bots or not, they have fangirls streaming them nonstop and make a lot of money from royalties, keep yapping about it. between a millionaire global pop star and some troll on last fm who probably feels their greatest achievement is their obscure af music taste while shitting on any other profiles they dont like & feeling good about "winning" arguements with kids & making them feel bad for liking what they like lmao i wonder who sounds more of a loser. your childhood must have been rough
