Doomtree: Final Boss (Last.fm Sessions)

The midwest indie hip-hop collective Doomtree are out on the circuit plugging their new record titled All Hands. They passed through NYC to perform at the Highline Ballroom and we were lucky enough to be on the scene to capture their soundcheck pre-show. Our live version of "Final Boss" is playing above.
With a wide range of musical influences into their work with lyrical complexity and wordplay, the formation of the group was a gradual process and featured a fluctuating lineup but has ultimately settled on the core containing Cecil Otter, Lazerbeak, Mike Mictlan, Paper Tiger, P.O.S., Sims and our old friend Dessa who you may remember from a Last.fm Session in Brooklyn a couple years back. Each independent member has their own flourishing career and an extremely distinct style that they collectively bring to the Doomtree table.
All Hands is the band's 3rd official album and debuted on Jan. 27th of 2015. The title nods to the nautical rally cry, "All hands on deck" as it represents the most collaborative project the crew has yet to produce. Members sequestered themselves in a cabin with no other humans and no phones to distract from their task. The result is a "particular mix of menace, humor, beauty, and adrenaline."
